Mr Justice Sullivan, High Court Judge of the Queen's Bench Division and Administrative Court, heard the recent and much publicised judicial review of the key plank of the government's anti-terrorism legislation: control orders (a measure introduced in response to the House of Lords ruling in A v Home Office). The case raised questions of the balance between national security and Art 5 of the ECHR. Mr Justice Sullivan's judgment against the Home Office was upheld by the Court of Appeal.
