Mr Guy Opperman won the 2007 Bar Pro Bono Award for his work with the Western Circuit Free Representation Unit and the Challenge to the closure of Marlborough Hospital, through the BAR Pro Bono Unit: he was praised by the Chairman of the Judges, Lord Goldsmith QC, for “helping many ordinary people and making their lives better” and by the Chairman of the Bar Council, Geoffrey Vos QC for his “sustained and impressive” work.
We are delighted to welcome him to Christ Church to speak about his extensive Pro Bono work and his personal experiences. The visit coincides with National Pro Bono Week which commences on the 9 November 2009.
This event is open to all members of the Society, Christ Church and the law faculty. However, since space is limited please reserve a place by emailing the President with the subject "Guy Opperman Confirm".
