Mr Sumption is Joint Head of Brick Court Chambers. He is widely regarded as one of the leading advocates of his generation, with regular appearances before the Appellate courts and particularly the House of Lords.

Mr Guy Opperman won the 2007 Bar Pro Bono Award for his work with the Western Circuit Free Representation Unit and the Challenge to the closure of Marlborough Hospital, through the BAR Pro Bono Unit.

At the 2009 Annual Dinner Lord Hoffmann spoke about the new Supreme Court which will replace the House of Lords as the Final Court of Appeal from October onwards. In particular he talked about its significance in relation to the doctrine of separation of powers and possible developments of judicial practice.

At the 2005 Annual Dinner, Lord Lloyd spoke about the strain put on the constitutional framework of the United Kingdom in the context of police powers to combat terrorism. The tension between civil liberties and detention without trial formed the core of his address.

At the 2004 Annual Dinner Mr Carter spoke about his work as Chair of the Bar Human Rights Committe. In particular he talked about recent case with which he was involved of Rasul v Bush, heard in the the Supreme Court of the United States, which determined the executive powers of the US President in relation to Camp Delta.
